Website and booking magicians and entertainers

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

This morning i spent most of my time trying to sort out my website.  If anyone was visiting it, they will have probably noticed strange bits of text magically appearing throughout the day and then disappearing as quickly.  I have managed to get the home page W3 validated if you know what that means!  The remaining pages may be a bit more of a challenge.

Then the phone started ringing and i hade to try and sort out bookings as well as trying to find other magicians.

Off to get a flu jab, now although they wont give me a Swine flu jab, i am too young and havnt paid enough taxes obviously!

December…Happened! but not yet over!

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

Christmas is over and December is almost over, but not quite as I have still magic at Manchester Utd to get to tomorrow and then its up to Preston for an hours meet and greet on New Years Eve.

I was determined to get some Blog entries written during December, but any time i had spare i was either getting ready for work again or just too tired to get my head together to write anything.  All i can remember mainly was working at Mercedes World or Canary Wharf.  I spent 8 evenings in Mercedes World in Weybridge which is on the old Brooklands circuit.  If i had arrived at any time during daylight i am sure it would have been a very impressive venue.  As it was I never had the chance to see it in its full glory.  Most of the nights i was working with magician John Vincent who i had never met before.  I am sometime a little apprehensive about working with other magicians as so often they are to involved in themselves or “the magic”, however I found that John and myself had a lot more in common than just “magic” It was great to work with him and we shared some great ideas, and conversations.  We were also told that we would not be catered for at this venue, although as it turned out if I turned up early enough then there was generally something available in the staff canteen.  As far as the jobs were concerned, pretty run of the mill corporate evenings although some of the nights did feel like some of the punters were under the “credit crunch” blues!

Apart from that I had 3 days jestering at Canary Wharf,  Man Utd and serveral other jobs that i really can’t remember much about…now that they are out of the way.

Tim and Myself (aka David Brent and Gareth) did an interesteing job in the middle of the city, obviously a financial company of some sort as the Boss started his speach with “Great to see those of you here who are and hopefully we will see most of you next year as well”.  Nigel Mead (magician) was also on the same job, i havnt seen Nigel for some time so it was great to see him.  The organiser had really chosen the wrong venue for the event but her feed back was along the lines of ” i am so glad i had booked David and Gareth, you guys saved the day!!”

The great thing about this year was that out about 75% of the work was evening or magic. The bad points was having the flu (man flu) at the beginning of the month, which made the start of December quite hard!

Anyway its all out of the way now, Man Utd tomorrow vs Middlesborough, 3 - 0 would be nice!
