Harrods Christmas Parade (again)!

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

Not compalining about repeat bookings but it does feel like Deja Vu,  an early start leaving at 5am with a start in London at 8am.  The parade always looks great.  From an entertainers point of view its more about meeting up with the other entertainers you havnt seen for a while, than the entertainment itself.

The rest of the week has been quiet,  i think the conversation of the week has  to be the person that rung up for a quote.  She said”thats just out of our budget,  I know a magician that would charge half that amount but they do really crap tricks! We could have him but we don’t want crap tricks!”

Magic Shows, wedding close up magic then street shows and Tanx

Monday, August 31st, 2009

The first half of Aug was quiet enough,  then suddenly things got busier than expected.  Starting with a 1st Anniversary party waking up my close up magician skills.  Then a Tanx Radio control Tank battle event.  Then on monday more magic at a rather nice wedding at Birtsmorton court.  Working along side Richard Ellis the caricaturist.

A company relation team building chill out day on Tues,  running tanx again and other entertainment.  Another great day.  Then apart from Saturday close up magic at old Trafford it was street shows and shopping centre entertainment all week.  Trying to wake up audiences of families who just wanted an end to the school holidays.

Maybe next week i will get some time off!  I may ring Russ Stokes and chat magic with him this week.  Who knows!

24th Jan - Burns Night…Brighton!

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

Waist coats all made and looked great along with some very hairy comedy sporrans! Stilts packed and ready to make some magic!

Steve Kaos and myself shared the drive down to Brighton,  when we arrived we parked up in a very tight car park underneath the Hotel.

All that was required of us was a bit of Scottish  meet and greet and mingling  banter on stilts, and send everybody through to dinner.  I felt a bit embarrassed donning comedy Tami Chanters and hairy sporrans while sharing a room with proper Scottish bag pipers and folk band.  None taken i hope.   Not the most organised evening with the guests not quite sure where they were supposed to be going, but with all the theming it looked good, (and with us of course!)

When it came to getting out of the car park we just lifted up the phone and asked if they could lift the barrier, as we had been working in the hotel.  Which they did, but it wasn’t until we were out of the car park and loading up that we realized we had parked in a car park of a completely different hotel!  oops - free parking!!

A day in Manchester Filming

David Brent working hard, actually ordering a take away

I thought i would be “magically” free all week, this week until Tim gave me a call  and announced “Yes, they definitely want you on thursday as Gareth!”  Er Wot!?  Fortunately i was still not booked for anything that date.  The film crew we had met previously at the NEC , although the client we had met back in November in Northampton.  Having

David and Gareth Office lookalikes, the modern day Laurel and Hardy

not been fully briefed about what was happening on that date this left me a bit confused to start with!  Anyway the film crew had a superb script run through plus quite a bit of room for us to add our bits.  The basic outline was David and Gareth “office lookalikes” under the impression everything was working great but the

reality was the company needed to install the ERP software to get everything running 100% smoothly.

The film crew also took some extra footage of us giving 5 top tips for companies to beat the recession.  Very un PC but it should make a great video for us!!

A long days filming but it really was good fun!!

Some point this week i plan to rebuild the house for TANX and also make 2 waistcoats for a stilts  and Juggling job on the 24th…plus getting ready for Cambodia!  January is the quiet time yeah?
